About ConcreteTally
ConcreteTally is an independent publisher of free material-quantity calculators for outdoor and home projects. Each one answers the same question: how much do you actually buy. Today that covers roofs, driveways, patios, yards, fences and walls.
What this site is — and is not
This site publishes self-serve calculators and reference information. It does not provide advice, consultations, quotes, installer referrals, or any form of personal assistance, and it is not a contractor. Every figure here is an estimate made from published specifications; the person who can see your actual job is your supplier, the product label, or your local building official.
Where the numbers come from
Every material specification and waste assumption is read from a versioned data file. A figure a publisher printed carries a source link, the exact page section, its effective date and the date it was retrieved; the full list is on the Sources page. Where a calculator starts from a value nobody publishes — an allowance, a rounding step, a way of counting — it says beside the value that the choice is its own and why. The sources are manufacturer specification sheets, trade and standards bodies, and university extension services — not other calculators.
Where producers publish different figures for the same thing — pallet coverage is the clearest example, and it varies by a factor of nearly two — the calculators say so and let you enter your own supplier's number rather than picking one and hiding the spread.
How the site is funded, and who is not paying for it
The site is free to use. It may show advertising. Advertising never changes a calculation result.
This site has no commercial relationship with any manufacturer, supplier, grower, trade association or standards body named anywhere on it. No figure here is placed or paid for, and no product is recommended in exchange for anything. Where producers publish different figures for the same material, each calculator either lets you choose between them or says which one it starts from and why.
Corrections
If you believe a published specification is wrong, please send the correction with a source via the Contact page. Factual corrections are reviewed against the manufacturer or standards publication.
Every correction that changes a published figure is logged, with its date and what changed, on the Corrections page — including mistakes found in review before any reader reported them.
